People with Type O blood have the best chance of overcoming Candidiasis, according to naturopath Dr. James D’Adamo. They have a strong, well-developed physique and their basic nature makes them physically very active. They also need some protein daily to feel well. Dairy products are not as mucous-forming in Type O’s as in other people; wheat and tomatoes are not as acid-forming. This doesn’t mean you can run out and eat these foods with abandon, especially since they feed yeast. But once healthy, O’s can rotate them into the diet with fewer consequences than others might have. Type O’s can introduce new foods sooner than other blood types once they restore their inner ecology. The blood flow of Type O’s is sluggish, so vigorous exercise is critical to improving health and feeling good. Type O’s can exercise strenuously for an hour or two a day and they’ll feel great afterward. The key word for Type O’s is “stimulate.” Stimulate your body with alternating hot and cold water when you shower. Wear strong colors like red, orange, purple and yellow. Drink ginseng tea, which is very stimulating and keep your diet high in iron, with lots of leafy greens, ocean vegetables, egg yolks, whole grains, soaked almonds and sardines. Type A's and A/BThese two types are very similar. They burn a lot of the calories they consume in mental activity and generally have a high creative potential. Their bodies are very sensitive and they tend to be physically less active. When healthy, their thyroid glands are often overstimulated, which increases their metabolic rate. This leads to a nervous kind of kinetic energy and activity, rather than a calm, centered energy. Many of these people may never have experienced their true energy because they’ve been eating the wrong foods all their lives. They may be tense, impatient and unable to sleep well. Candidiasis seems to overwhelm them and it takes a longer time for them to spring back to health than it takes a Type O. Types A and A/B must introduce new foods more slowly. They may have to take extra special care of themselves, but in return they can live very long, healthy lives. Transitioning into a vegetarian version of the body ecology diet is an ideal long-term program for these blood types. Animal and wheat products are usually highly acid-forming for Types A and A/B. Wheat should not be eaten at all (because it feeds yeast), and once Type A body ecology is rebalanced, animal flesh foods (too heavy) should be eaten once or twice a week, if at all. Types A and A/B may find buckwheat (a body ecology diet grain) to be too acid-forming, so, if it’s a favorite of yours, cook it with more alkaline foods, such as onions, carrots, amaranth, millet, or quinoa (the three other body ecology diet grains) and good quality sea salt. The way you cook and combine foods can change the impact they have on your body. Types A and A/B should eat the most alkaline fruits and vegetables to prevent an increase in body acidity. Try leafy greens, watercress, asparagus, broccoli, carrots, fennel, okra, cucumbers, celery, yellow squash and green beans. Even if you were rebalanced and could not eat them, the following food have limitations for Types A and A/B:
Once you are free of your Candida imbalance and choose to eat them, soy products such as tofu are well tolerated by A’s and A/B’s. These blood types can become true vegetarians – but slowly. Don’t suddenly stop eating meat, poultry, and fish if you’re type A. Change over gradually as you heal. Warm baths and showers – neither too hot nor too cold – are best for these blood types. Steam rooms, hot tubs and saunas are too exhausting. Exercise should be calming to soothe that nervous energy; golfing, walking and gentle rebounding are all excellent examples. Soft pastel colors complement the lifestyles of Types A and A/B.
Type BThese people share characteristics of all other blood types. Balance and moderation are key to their lives. They can strike a good balance between mental and physical pursuits. They’re constitutionally stronger than A’s but less muscular than O’s. Type B’s will find that wheat and dairy products are mildly mucous-forming and should only be eaten a few times a week, if at all. They can vary their diet between vegetarian and animal meals. They can alternate between vigorous and calming exercise. Warm baths or showers are best, with occasional stimulation from a hot/cold combination. The full range of colors can be worn: red and orange to activate, blue and green to soothe, mauve and violet for meditations or reflection. Type B’s just need to experiment until they find what works for them in terms of diet, exercise and lifestyle. They can sample, pick and choose.
