A deceptively simple book that reads like an artist’s book of days, The Creative Life demonstrates how Julia Cameron walks all the talking she did in her landmark book The Artist’s Way, and the subsequent Walking in This World and Finding Water, which stand as a creative process trio.

The holidays are full of pressures to be glad even if you don’t feel that way. People talk about “holiday cheer,” “finding the silver lining,” “looking on the bright side,” all of which are fine when we feel those things, but can actually add to feelings of loneliness and depression when we don’t. There is also a certain kind of “holiday tyranny” where we are encouraged to hide how we’re actually feeling, for the “sake of the holidays.”

My daughter was trying to decide what college to go to after she graduated from high school. She was torn between what her friends, feelings/heart, were saying and what she “thought” she should do. I was watching her going through this turmoil for months. One day she was talking to me about it and I said “Taylor, our home is now an official “No-Thinking” household. The “rules” are you can’t just keep on thinking... She looked at me like I was crazy. I looked at her and said I was serious. No more mental merry go rounds that brings us right back to the same place, feeling confused and split. Torn between what we are feeling, what our hearts and intuition are telling us and what our old patterns/programs are saying we “should, could or have to do”.

This year was going to be different. Most of my shopping was done in November and I was wrapping by day one of the advent calendar. A summer visit with family had produced an almost perfect picture for the ceremonial card and I was able to quickly locate equally stacked piles of gifts for our two sons.

How many years have you started out your New Year’s Resolution list with BE MORE CREATIVE? This year I am going to learn to paint, to play the piano, to write, to sing, to dance…? Do you have boxes of craft supplies unused in your attic, or stacks of creative “how to” books that never get used? Have you been waiting for the creative inspiration that never seems to come? Well, if so, I am here to help and tell you that it is time for the Creative Spirit to come and get you! Creativity, which comes so naturally when we are children, is an inherent part of being a human being and it is as individual as a fingerprint. Each of us has our own kind of creativity, unique and perfect. Often it gets driven out of us, when we are young by teachers who want us to conform and make that green tree or by even well meaning folks who criticize our tender vulnerabilities. Often at these moments of embarrassing criticism, we shut down and this can last through the rest of our lives. BUT NO MORE!!! Your mark, word, song, etc., is meant to be made in this world... your mark that is as individual as you are… and you are the only one who can make that mark as you do.

As pet parents all over the world look forward to celebrating the holidays, there’s one simple rule of thumb to follow each season – Safety First. Don’t be shy sharing these tips with other pet owners. Responsible pet parents talk-up pet tips and safety guidelines all the time! Enjoy your pet-friendly celebrations and we wish you a very happy holiday all year long!

Frequently I find myself experiencing moments where I am overwhelmed by the sheer beauty, perfection and awesome simplicity of animals. I have found that if we really want an answer to a particular question in life, one of the best solutions is to ask an animal. Talking to animals is not nearly as difficult as it may seem. Animals have no ego-based individual thought patterns governing their actions. They simply live in the present moment free from the shackles of duality, judgment, greed and hate. How is it that creatures with such a small brain capacity manages to solve puzzles, design and build things of such profound beauty, and impact our lives so deeply? How, with no language, can they communicate and coordinate their actions so perfectly and harmoniously?

Crystals and minerals interact with our energy field and physical body through chemical resonance. The crystal and mineral kingdom offers a wide range of chemical frequencies, available to us through resonance, for support of our physical, emotional, mental and spiritual health. The chemical resonance between the stones and like molecules in the physical body creates a larger resonate field between the two. This larger resonate field within the physical and energetic bodies will then affect other vibrational fields in the body causing them to “attempt” to align with the energy of the stones.

Many years ago, there was a group of pilgrims that traveled to Kathamandu, Nepal for deep spiritual training and initiation into the Bon Shamanic traditions. The trip included working with healers, Tamang shamans within the Bon tradition, and visiting sacred sites. One particular day, permission was granted to view a sacred statue; a deity within ancient Hindu culture which only Brahmans, those of the highest caste, could view. Because the guide and translator was Brahman, the group was granted entry. It was considered an extreme honor, and they had to move quickly, so as not to offend anyone—mortals and deities alike.
